DK Elemental Mahjong Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
This privacy policy applies to the DK Elemental Mahjong mobile app (the "App"). The App is developed and published by David Kuchel, trading as DK Squared Studio, a sole proprietor based in Germany ("we", "us", "our"). For the processing we carry out ourselves, we are the controller within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Contact: support@dk-squared-studio.com. Our postal address is in the Impressum.
This policy covers the App only. Our website has its own privacy policy.
2. The short version
- The App has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no crash-reporting services from other companies, and we run no servers of our own.
- Your games, levels, scores, ranks, helpers, statistics and settings are stored on your device. We never receive them.
- If the App runs into an error, it keeps a short technical note on your device. It reaches us only if you email it to us yourself.
- The App works fully offline.
- If you turn on reminders, the App schedules them on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- If you email us, we use your message only to answer it.
3. Data stored only on your device
The App keeps the following in its own private storage on your device:
- the game in progress, and your level on the level path
- your finished games: times, scores, stars, combos, mistakes, and the hints, undos, shuffles and revives used
- your Daily progress and streaks, your rank, achievements and helpers
- which boards you have played
- your settings, such as vibration, reduced motion, themes and reminders
- the times of day your recent games began and the day you last opened the App, used only to time reminders and the welcome-back gift
- a record of errors the App ran into (section 5)
The App never sends this data to us or to anyone else. Deleting the App, or clearing its storage in your device settings, deletes it permanently. Settings → Reset progress deletes your game data without uninstalling the App.
If you have turned on device backup, Android may include the App's data in your own backup, which Google stores in your account. That backup is under your control and governed by Google's terms. We cannot access it.
4. Contacting us and "Send feedback"
"Send feedback" in the App's settings opens your own email app with a new message to support@dk-squared-studio.com. The App fills in the App version, the device model and the Android version, so we can reproduce problems. Nothing is sent unless you send the email yourself.
When you email us, we process your email address, your message and anything you choose to include, only to answer you. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where your message concerns the App's use, and Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR otherwise. We delete the correspondence once your request is resolved, unless we are required to keep it by law.
5. Error reports
If the App runs into an error or closes unexpectedly, it notes this on your device: what went wrong and where in the App's code, how often and when, the App version, the device model and the Android version. The note contains none of your games and is never sent automatically.
"Send error report" in Settings opens your own email app with the report in a new message to support@dk-squared-studio.com, so you can read or change it before you send it. Notes are deleted from your device 60 days after the error last occurred. We use reports you send only to find and fix faults, and delete them once they are no longer needed for that. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, our legitimate interest in an App that works; whether anything is sent is your choice.
6. Google Play
The App is distributed through Google Play, which processes your Google account and install data under its own terms.
The App contains no crash-reporting or analytics services from other companies (its own error reports are described in section 5). If you have allowed your device to share usage and diagnostic data with Google, Google may give us crash reports and performance statistics, such as Android vitals in the Play Console. These contain technical information like the device model and OS version. They do not identify you to us.
7. Permissions
The App uses vibration for its optional haptic feedback, which you can turn off in Settings.
If you say yes to reminders in the App, it asks your device for permission to show notifications (on Android 13 and later). It never asks before you have said yes. Reminders are scheduled on your device, and the App may restore them after your device restarts. You can turn them off in Settings → Reminders or in your device's settings at any time.
8. What we don't do
- We don't show ads or use your device's advertising ID.
- We don't use analytics, tracking or profiling.
- We don't access your location, camera, microphone, contacts or files.
- We don't sell or rent personal data to anyone.
9. Children
DK Elemental Mahjong is a puzzle game suitable for all ages. It collects no personal data from anyone, including children: everything stays on the device.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data (Art. 15), to have it corrected (Art. 16) or erased (Art. 17), to restrict its processing (Art. 18), to data portability (Art. 20) and to object to processing based on our legitimate interests (Art. 21). To exercise these rights for data we hold, such as your emails, contact us at the address above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU member state where you live or work.
11. Changes to this policy
If the App's handling of data changes, we will update this policy and its date before the change takes effect.
